FAQs for Donors
How much should I budget for purchasing gifts?

You should budget $150 per child. You will purchase a minimum of three items per child as well as one item for the parent/guardian.

Can someone pick up the gifts from my office or home, instead of me dropping them off?

No, unfortunately. . The Gender and Sexuality Center is unable to retrieve items from offices, departments, or homes. Donors need to drop off gifts November 5–26, 2024 at the Gender and Sexuality Center in Nebraska Union, Room 340.

Can I purchase items during Black Friday?

We recommend that gifts are purchased/acquired and dropped off prior to November 26 (This year, Black Friday is November 29 and Cyber Monday is December 2). By dropping off items prior to November 26, you are helping to ensure the gifts are organized and ready by December 9 for pick up by parents and guardians.

If you are purchasing on Amazon or other e-tail sites, we suggest making your purchases by November 20. This will allow time for delivery to your address and you can bring to the Gender and Sexuality Center by the November 26 deadline.

What if I am not matched with a child?

Occasionally, we have more donors than children in the HFLH program. It is a rare occurrence, but it does happen in select years.

If you are not matched with a child, you will receive information to purchase optional items from the Holidays for Little Huskers wishlist to provide extra winter clothing, gloves, or self-care items for the child(ren) or student parents and guardians.

Can I donate money, gift cards, or items without being matched with a child?

Yes, we are happy to work with you to benefit the children in a way that works for you. Send the HFLH team a message at littlehuskers@unl.edu explaining how or what you wish to donate.
